Offers like this rarely come across my desk but I have secured twelve six bottle cases of 1981 Château La Lagune Haut-Médoc, a famous classified third growth of Bordeaux. See image above for the condition photo of the parcel.
These twelve cases are the last of a series of ex-château (stored since their ‘birth’ in the château’s own cellars, the perfect environment) releases from Château LaLagune in 2025, with all bottles being freshly labelled and nestled in original wooden cases.
The wine is in superb form, tasting fantastically with forty-plus years of age on it. The price is the star here; £68 a bottle in bond for a forty-four year old, perfect condition Third Growth Haut-Médoc is rarer than hen’s teeth. The price really should be doubled. Nay, tripled.
This is the perfect opportunity to buy perfectly mature claret ahead of the festive season without remotely breaking the bank. We will pick up our cases in the next month, ready for UK delivery in November.
Château La Lagune is a Troisième Cru Classé property that produces some of the finest wines in the Haut-Médoc AC. As a Third Growth it is the same classification as Château Palmer (whose 1981 vintage goes for £200+ a bottle) or Cantenac-Brown. La Lagune's history dates back to 1715 when its handsome château was constructed. The vineyards were first planted in 1724.
